nomination program reopened

Over the last few months, the Australian Capital Territory took its time to review the Skilled Nominated (190) visa nomination program. On 29 November 2018, the nomination program was reopened to all applications with a new system for determining nominated applicants.

The new nomination process

From of 29 November 2018, the nomination process is a two-stage process. Herein clients firstly need to formally express their interest in applying for nomination by the Australian Capital Territory. Candidates now need to complete a score-based ‘Canberra Matrix’. In this matrix, points are allocated against economic contribution or benefit and their genuine commitment to be a part of the Australian Capital Territory community.

The highest raked candidates will be selected and invited to apply for nomination. Scores of 20 points and above will be ranked.

Besides the new nomination process, a new occupation list has come to effect as well.
